Tabitha’s First Fiesta Birthday!

It was so much fun to celebrate Tabitha's first birthday with a fiesta-themed cake smash! This is a theme that was easy to set up and also photographed beautifully; the colors we decorated with were vibrant and fun, perfect for celebrating this little one’s first trip around the sun!

Pre-Cake Smash Photos

This photoshoot took place indoors at my studio in Torrance, CA. I always like to start cake smash sessions with some photos before we get to smashing the cake without the decorations. This way, you can see your child's personality shine through and get some really cute shots of them exploring their new surroundings.

Tabitha's Mom brought two different birthday girl outfits for her big day! I always encourage parents to bring a change of clothes for some good variety in the final images. Tabitha’s big sister was able to also be there for the session so we were able to take some adorable sister photos of the girls together.

First Fiesta Cake Smash Set Up

The setup for this theme was simple, but so effective! All you need are some colorful balloons, a few streamers, and some twinkle lights! The colors we used were red, yellow, turquoise, and purple. And of course, a fiesta cake to match! This incredible cake was created by Sabrina Saenz at Couture Cupcakery. The vibrant colors and intricate details were perfect for our fiesta theme! The colorful balloon arch was done by We Poppin’ Balloons, an awesome vendor that I’ve had the pleasure of working with many times.

Tabitha had the cutest dress on for her big day, all white with little colored tassels that matched our balloon decor perfectly. Her sister wore a bright white dress with little colored polka dots. The mostly white dresses really made the colorful decorations really pop and were a perfect choice for this set up!

Let the Fiesta Begin!

The cake smash itself was a huge success! Tabitha dug right in and had so much fun smushing the cake all over her face. Her sister was happy to join in on the fun too, and we got some great shots of them both playing with the cake.
