A Pizza-Themed Cake Smash Session: Fun Ideas for Your First Birthday Photo Shoot

This pizza-themed cake smash session is perfect for any little one who loves pizza (or just food in general!). We used a variety of props to create a realistic pizzeria setting, and the results were so awesome. If you're planning a first birthday soon, be sure to check out these photos for some inspiration!

This session took place in my Torrance, California studio, and I was so excited to get started with setting up this particular theme! The first thing we did was set up a few wooden crates to create rustic, pizzeria vibes. Then, we hung a pizza banner (found on Amazon) and placed several cardboard pizza boxes in a few different spots for added decor.

Finally, we brought in the star of the show - one-year-old Palmer and snapped a few photos prior to getting started with the cake smash. She was such a happy little camper, and it was so much fun to capture her personality in these photos.

Once Palmers milestone photos were done, we brought out her custom pizza cake from Couture Cupcakery in Long Beach, CA. It looked so realistic that I almost wanted to eat it myself! We placed it in front of her, and let her dig in. And boy, did she dig in!

Palmer had so much fun smashing her cake and eating it too, and the entire session was too cute for words. All in all, it was a successful cake smash, and I'm already looking forward to planning my next one!
