Girly Cake Smash Ideas: First Trip Around the Sun

Little Luna's mom, Jackie, booked a Black Friday bundle back in the fall that included a milestone and cake smash session. For the milestone session, she asked if we could do a family session on the beach. I thought it was a great idea because it was their first opportunity for family photos with their little quarantine baby.

We went ahead and planned a family session date and location, and secretly her boyfriend reached out to me. He wanted to know if he could propose during the session, and of course I said yes! So while Jackie and I planned the family session together, her future husband and I planned the proposal on the side.

We got to the beach when the day came for their family session and took most of their family photos. At the end, I suggested just a few of mom and dad together, and I moved mama toward me. I told Chris to stand behind her, and little did she know he dropped down on one knee and proposed when she turned around! It was such a fun and intimate surprise because their kids were in the photos, and got to watch it all happen.

At the end of their family session we started chatting about what to do for Luna's first birthday session that was coming up in a couple weeks. I suggested a "first trip around the sun" theme (which I've done before - see the boy version here), and they loved the idea.

We made it super girl with purples, pinks, and silver, and little Luna loved it. I'm so excited about how it turned out and can't wait to watch her grow over the next few years.
