Jack’s first birthday cake smash

In this post, we are looking at not just one but FOUR unique and different ways to decorate for a “first trip around the sun” cake smash theme!

First up, we have Jack’s First birthday cake smash. Right off the hop, I need to just say: How cute is this little astronaut outfit he wore for his special day? We found this on Amazon! Adorable.

We decorated Jack’s set up with a stunning balloon arch from We poppin’ Balloons. Solid balloons in orange, gold and grey colors were used, as well as some cute planet Balloons that, of course, added to the ‘first trip around the sun’ theme.

The backdrop also featured gold star garlands and twinkle lights. Both can be found on Amazon.

The cake was a stunning creation by none other than Couture Cupcakery. Sabrina used white icing as the main color and created little planets and stars along the side. Also, the sun made for the perfect “cherry” on top of this cake (literally).

Cece’s first trip around the sun

For Cece’s first birthday cake smash, we decorated with solid colored balloons - shades of orange, gold & beige, as well as planet balloons. This setup is another beautiful display by We Poppin’ balloons.

The backdrop was decorated with gold stars and fairy lights.

This incredible cake was created by Couture Cupcakery and features a two-tone orange and cream icing with little gold stars, and beautiful, orange sun on the top.

LUNA’S FIRST BIRTHDAY CAKE SMASH

I had so much fun celebrating little Luna's first birthday in my studio. ⁣

When Luna's Mom and I were planning this session, I suggested a "first trip around the sun" theme, and she loved the idea. Luna’s name inspired the beautiful moon theme and design, which as you can see is a totally different color scheme than the last two sessions!

Little Luna's "first trip around the sun" cake smash was filled with pinks, purples, silvers, and lots of fun! The incredible cake was created by Couture Cupcakery, and the balloon arch was designed by Krista from Long Beach, CA: We Poppin’ Balloons.

The clouds were made with cotton fluff ;) sometimes you just have to get creative! I love how this set-up turned out.

Lennox’s First Trip Around the Sun

When mom sent over an adorable invitation (pictured below) I was inspired (or should I say… Over the moon excited) to do something fun, simple and on point with the graphic art she chose for her son’s first birthday. I am so lucky to work with two amazing vendors. Sabrina from Couture Cupcakery in Long Beach and Krista of We Poppin Balloons also a Long Beach, CA based vendor to make moms vision come to fruition.

I sent both Krista and Sabrina the invitation and we brain stormed ideas. I added in some stars and twinkle lights and it was the perfect setup to celebrate his first trip around the sun. How handsome is this little man?! He was ready to dig into his cake and start the party. Some baby’s absolutely love the cake and many don’t it is really hit and miss especially if baby is new to sweets and textures. He was all smiles and ready to explore during the first part of our session.

As fast as the session started… it ended. In tears and a mild sugar rush. He loved and honestly I can’t resist the little crying face at the end of the session to let us know he is done and over it.
