Family Portrait Session at the Huntington Beach Pier

How do I handle wild kiddos who just want to backflip in the sand and dive into waves within 3 minutes of arriving at the beach? I work fast! I get the smiley shots Mom wants first while keeping the kiddos engaged and shooting/moving quickly to get what I "need". Then, we have some fun!

Preparing for your Family Beach SESSION

I can't tell you how many sessions Mom and Dad show up stressed out and anxious that the kids aren't listening or staying clean.

First, keep the kiddos in the car until we are ready to meet up. This will keep them clean and move right into photographing. If you let them play and explore and then want them to snap into the photo mode you are going to get pushback... especially from toddlers who want to be independent but don't know what the heck is going on now that they can be down on the ground exploring.

Fun Family PhotoS AT the Beach

Once we get that magical "everyone looking and smiling" shot for grandma we can move on, relax and have fun. This session of the Sacks family is one of my favorites because Mom and Dad were also able to let loose and have fun with the boys and create memories within the portraits.

TIPS FOR getting the BEST BEACH PHOTOS

Break the tension and frustration. Spin your kiddo, throw them in the air. If they want to snuggle and hold you tightly, hold them tighter. Follow their cues and do your best to go with the flow and let the magic happen.
