Cliffside portrait paradise in Palos Verdes, CA
One of my most requested locations this year so far has been this amazing rocky shore in Palos Verdes, CA. Because it has been so popular, I thought I should share the location here. It is a popular surf spot for locals but also a little hidden gem for photographers. On a clear day, you can even get a glimpse of Catalina Island located a little over 20 miles off of the coast. I love the contrast of the sandy beach against the green cliffs and the rocky shore in between. It is perfect for couples and families that are looking to catch some fresh air while capturing lifelong memories.
Nestled along the coast surrounding quiet neighborhoods, PV offers a variety of great locations for families and couples alike. Whether you are going for dramatic ocean views from atop the cliffs, or intimate and cozy moments along the beach, you are sure to get some stunning backdrops. This location is perfect for shooting year-round but who doesnβt love a flowy sundress moment in the Summer. These families loved this location because it offered a relatively private experience away from crowds and some fun rock hunting for the little ones! For clothing options, go for neutral beachy tones and fabrics that dance in the wind.
Make an entire day out of your photoshoot in Palos Verdes and visit some of the surrounding attractions. Point Vicente Interpretive Center is an amazing outdoor space with an indoor maritime museum that is perfect for kids. This spot is popular for whale watching during migration season and even serves as a wedding venue. Pack a lunch and bring your picnic blanket! Terranea Resort is well known for its serene atmosphere and breathtaking views. Parking is open to the public and wandering the resort grounds is a great activity because there is so much to see. You can find yourself on a pebbly beach with a secret cave, exploring some tide pools or grabbing lunch at one of their many restaurants. For all you lovers out there, Wayfarers Chapel offers an incredibly scenic location blended with world renowned architecture. Designed by the brother of Frank Lloyd Wright, you wont find anything in the area quite like it. Exposed wooden beams, large glass panels and giant redwood trees make you feel like you are in another world.
